Painting · Tampa Bay

Interior and exterior painting in Tampa Bay.

Four painting jobs below. Pick the one that sounds like yours. Each page tells you the same three things, including the one most companies leave out. In paint, that one is the prep, because it is the part that disappears under the color.

Every page answers these three
01What actually decides the price
02How many days you lose the room
03When we would tell you not to do it

Priced by written scope, never by the hour.

Pick the job that sounds like yours

Four services

If two of them sound like yours, that is normal. Say so on the walkthrough and the written scope covers both under one price.

Not sure which one is yours? Start here.

Most houses are one of these five cases. Read the line that sounds like yours. The page it points to is the one to open first. Nothing on these pages moves a wire or a pipe. The licensed trades stay out of it unless a wall has to be opened, and then your scope names them. Every page below also says how the room is protected and what the touch up kit covers.

01

Walls, ceilings and trim inside the house

Interior painting. The prep is patching, sanding, caulking and priming, and it is most of the job. Two coats over a primed patch, or the patch shows through in a year. The scope names the brand, the sheen and the coats, room by room.

02

Stucco, siding, fascia and the front door

Exterior painting. Florida sun and afternoon rain set the schedule. Chalking stucco gets washed and primed. Rotten fascia comes out before any color. The paint goes on when the surface is dry, not when the calendar says.

03

The cabinets are fine and you hate the color

Cabinet painting. Doors come off and get sprayed flat. Frames are sprayed inside a sealed kitchen. Everything is degreased twice before a bonding primer. It is the cheapest way to change a kitchen, and it lives in the sandpaper.

04

The house was built before 1978

Any sanding or scraping on a house from before 1978 can put lead dust in the air. The EPA regulates it under its lead rule. The paint gets tested first. If it is positive, the work is done under that rule by a firm certified for it. It is its own line in the scope.

05

You want a number before anything else

Read the cost page. It gives you the 3 questions that put any painting job in a range. It also shows what a low bid quietly leaves out. There is no price per room, because the prep is the price and it is different on every wall.

The same five steps on every painting job above.

01Walkthrough of the real space
02Written scope, item by item
03One closed price
04Milestone payments
05Final walkthrough together
